Conditions of Entry
- Households in the Picton Dawn Chorus project area can take part. The project area is shown in Map 1. It includes the area from Ngakuta Bay to Whatamango Bay, including Picton and Waikawa townships and to the top of the Elevation heading south from Picton.
- An adult, aged 18 or over, must represent the household in entering the competition.
- You must have an appropriate predator trap placed on the property aimed at catching rats, mustelids or possums. Bait stations will not be included in the competition.
- Picton Dawn Chorus staff and Board members are excluded.
- Entries are based on the household street address, which must include the house number to be valid.
- A maximum of 4 “no catch” entries will be included per household, per month.
- Additional entries can be submitted for each pest (mouse, rat, weasel, stoat, ferret or possum) caught. A separate report will need to be filed for each catch.
- Any duplicate entries will be removed.

Promotion Period
- The competition runs from 1st March to 31st October 2025.
- Entries received before midnight on the last day of the month will be included in that month’s prize draw.
- Each weekly entrant goes into the draw for the monthly spot prize, and also the draw for the overall prize for the promotion period, being a trip for two to Motuara Island.
- Random draws are made each month by drawing, at a minimum, one random entry within the first ten days of the following month. i.e. Before Monday 10 April for the March competition, before Wednesday 10 May for the April competition etc.
- An overall draw for the promotion period will be made before 20 November 2025.
- The monthly winner will win a spot prize.
- The overall winner will win the trip for two to Motuara Island as advertised.
- The person associated with the winning household entry will be notified by email and/or telephone using the details provided with the winning entry. If contact is not established within 5 working days a new winner can be drawn.
- The winner’s name will be published on the Picton Dawn Chorus website and Facebook page.
- The winner may be asked to take part in some media around the awarding of the prize.
- The Picton Dawn Chorus decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice.
